Two major releases hit the digital world this week: first Lil Wayne’s Dedication 4 created a buzz on the internet and now Big Sean’s fourth mixtape Detroit, named after his hometown, is preceding the release of his sophomore album. The mixtape features notable artists such as Kendrick Lamar, Mike Posner, J.Cole, Juicy J, Chris Brown, and more. The mixtape tells the tale of Big Sean rising from Chi-town to fame and features interludes from rappers like Common and Young Jeezy sharing their stories about the D as well.
With this G.O.O.D. Music album and then my next album coming so soon it really don’t make no sense for me to do a mixtape but we do got the songs already. It’s basically done— we’ve got new photos and new videos that we’re not using for the album so we might as well give fans something for free.”- Big Sean, MTV Interview
